the way of tea - Ceremonies in eltham

Tea is a gentle and beautiful way to gather — to share presence, space, and heartfelt intention. These ceremonies take place in my tea sanctuary in Eltham, offering a quiet retreat from the noise of everyday life.

Cha Dao, or The Way of Tea, is an ancient practice rooted in simplicity, stillness, and reverence for nature. It invites us into a moving meditation through the silent sharing of tea — a time to slow down, to listen deeply, and to reconnect with ourselves and the world around us.

This is a silent, plant-led ceremony that honors tea as a teacher and medicine for the body, mind, and spirit. It softens the heart, brings clarity, and opens space for a deeper sense of inner connection. No prior experience is needed — just a willingness to be present. Chairs are available if needed; please let me know in advance.

Each ceremony ends with time for quiet community connection and space for any questions and reflections.

Please visit the Events page for upcoming sits and gatherings.

I'm someone who often heads out for tea in nature quite spontaneously, depending on the weather, the season, and what my schedule allows.

Sometimes it's a quiet sit by the river. Sometimes beneath the trees. Sometimes watching the sunrise or sunset with a bowl of tea in hand.

If you'd like to be invited, join the Forest Bathers WhatsApp Chat by texting Emily - 0407991630 and begin receiving WhatsApp invitations to our next outdoor gathering.

No pressure, no commitment—just occasional invitations to slow down, share tea, and connect with nature and community when the moment feels right. 🍵🌿

Every gathering includes:

  • A silent tea ceremony in nature

  • An open circle for discussion and sharing

This is more than a tea ceremony — it’s an opportunity to slow down, ground yourself, and be present with others and nature in a mindful, meaningful way.
